Ron Howard and Brian Grazer Debut Imagine Impact

The content accelerator program aims to support and cultivate emerging talent from around the world.

July, 2018

Every great idea, influential voice, transformative film, or compelling story begins somewhere—coming to fruition due to equal parts talent, luck, and the support from the allies who choose to champion untold tales. That exact spirit served as the genesis for Imagine’s latest venture to support the future of creative storytelling: Imagine Impact.

The content accelerator, which draws inspiration from the tech world’s Y Combinator—an incubator program that pushes aspiring entrepreneurs to the next level with the help of a boot camp—will function under a similar idea, serving to empower and embolden content creators of all kinds, turning ideas into actualized projects across film, TV, VR, and so much more.

Those accepted into Imagine Impact (aptly called Creators) will take part in an 8-week boot camp that will demystify the processes at work in Hollywood. A group of industry professionals—otherwise known as Shapers—who represent some of the industry’s top talent in terms of screenwriting and showrunning will help to guide the Creator’s projects, offering insight, advice, and personal anecdotes to keep their creative journey on a track for success.

Functioning as an investment in the creative community that taps into the intrinsic understanding that there are countless unheard voices with stories to tell, Imagine Impact is an ode to Imagine’s larger dedication to bridge the gap so that great tales are told. After all, Imagine Entertainment would not be the creative force that it is today without the support of those who truly believed in the power of storytelling. With Imagine Impact, ideas others may ignore can come to life. It’s about democratizing an industry with a tough barrier to entry, breaking the mold and establishing a new stance in how film and television development can be approached.

The fully funded global program will kick off with a pilot iteration, Impact 1, in Los Angeles this fall, with plans to branch out to Latin America, United Kingdom, the Middle East, and China.
